Greetings friends! I wanted to update you on the event that took place on March 19. Those who had read the book Part-Time is Plenty gathered for about two hours and discussed what the book meant for them.
One of the things that came out of that meeting was deciding what the role of a Part-time Pastor would look like. As discussed, the Pastor would be what is called an Equipper, which is someone who provides guidance for the laity to be more active in the life of the Church. Because the twenty hours allocated per week to Pastor can be somewhat limiting, the need for laypeople is greater. One thing I would like to point out is that “Laity” is not defined as someone who is on a board or committee.
The other item that came out of this meeting was the interest in Stephens Ministries. This is a lay ministry that provides training on visitation, as well as other aspects of ministry.
I hope that you will find time to join us for a Maundy Thursday service to be held on April 14 at 7 pm in the Sanctuary.
I would encourage you to take some time and look back at how you have done on your Lenten journey. Have you been able to keep your focus? Did you “fast” the things that have been pressing down on you? You still have time to change your heart.
Blessings,
Pastor Kerry
