Missions

The Second Congregational Church is involved in many missions with the community.

If you have any questions about these missions feel free to reach out to a member of the church community.

Linus Project

A non-profit organization that provides new, handmade blankets to children in need. The blankets are lovingly made by adults and children from all walks of life and many different sources and are distributed to hospitals, ambulance services and Head Start organizations in our area. The blankets can be knit or crocheted, or made from flannel or fleece. Find out how you can help by contacting the Missions Committee.

Holy Joe’s Cafe

United Church of Christ military chaplains have found an old way to invite U.S. soldiers into a safe and informal place where they can receive spiritual care and good coffee. Congregations and individuals can support the Coffee House Ministry and simultaneously participate in the UCC Coffee Project by sending Equal Exchange Coffee to the military chaplains in Afghanistan, and Kuwait. Since its founding in 2006

Holy Joe’s Cafe has served over 22 million cups of coffee to troops who need to discuss their experiences and they support 151 military chaplains!

The Open Cupboard Pantry

The Open Cupboard Pantry is a local organization that assists those in need of food in our community. The church supports this organization by making food donations to help keep The Open Cupboard Pantry stocked.

Dress A Girl Around the world

This mission dreams of a world in which every girl has at least one new dress.  Learn from our missions group how to sew a simple dress or skirt for a girl who may never have had a new garment.  Dresses are distributed nationally as well as internationally. Dress A Girl Around The World Website

In collaboration with the Souhegan Boys & Girls Club

Missions began a collaboration with the  Souhegan Boys & Girls Club in Milford and the Be Strong Families’ model parental support program.  The Parents’ Cafe, as designed by parents, with parents, and for parents, is an endeavor to reach out to families with supportive conversations and support empowering their family relationships and communication, among other topics.

“These transformative conversations not only prevent violence and fight oppression, but they also give hope, create amazing leaders, and help overlooked communities thrive.”
