Important vote June 12th – ONA and By-Law Changes

On June 12, 2022, there will be an all-church meeting in the sanctuary after worship services. There are a couple of items to be voted on. There are some changes to by-laws on reports and reporting, but the big vote is on adopting the Open and Affirming (ONA) designation from the UCC. The ONA committee and church council see this as the next step in affirmation of our existing covenant in the church’s by-laws. It states as follows:

Covenant.

We are a church, believing that each of us is created in God’s Image. We celebrate everyone, including people of all ages, races, cultures, sexual orientations, gender identities, and expressions, family configurations, economic circumstances, physical, cognitive or emotional abilities, education, or spiritual and religious traditions. All are welcome to participate fully in the life, leadership, ministry, and mission of this church as we seek to grow together in a safe and nurturing community of faith. We strive to demonstrate in all ways that “no matter who you are or where you are on life’s journey, you are welcome here!”.

You should have received your ballot for the ONA vote a couple of weeks ago in the mail. You can return it at the meeting or before. Everyone has a private vote, which will be counted.

Other votes will be held in the usual manner.
